How our Vermont Dental Plans Work

First of all, we have over 25 different plans. This is like a "Dentalplans R Us" situation. A warehouse of many different plans in one location. Most parts of the country have multiple plans available.

Each plan has its own schedule of services and a fixed price that you pay when receiving the service. In addition, each plan has its own network of dentists. It is not uncommon to find a dentist in more than one network.

When you go to a dentist in the network, you are responsible to pay that dentist the discounted fee for your dental work. In many cases this fee can be hundreds less than what the dentist usually charges. In many parts of the country there are plans that include free cleanings, x-rays and exams. Some plans include discount vision and prescription cards as well.

If you are looking for a Vermont dental plan where:

- You go to any dentist you want
- Pay a small copay and have the insurance company take care of the rest

Y ou can start wishing for something else. Plans like that are not available. The insurance company is not going pay for $3,000 worth of dental work while you pay them twenty bucks a month.

Vermont Group Dental Plans

Any of the discount dental plans can be offered in a group environment with a single list bill. The company can pay for it or it can be a voluntary plan and the premium subtracted from a paycheck. It does not matter whether you have full time, part time or even independent 1099 contractors. The plans are so cheap that a business can easily pay for their employees. My Experiences with Discount Dental Plans

I bought a plan for my family of three. Here is how it has stacked up so far.

Plan cost $149.95 for 15 months. I used the discount coupon code I gave you and saved 10%. My cost was $134.95 for 15 months of coverage.

Cleanings: We all had our teeth cleaned every 6 months. Since the plan last for 15 months, we were able to get 3 cleanings for 3 people or 9 cleanings. The cleaning was $44 instead of $75. We saved $279 on cleanings.

We all had x-rays. The plan price is $25 and the regular price was $52. We saved $81 on x-rays.

My son's filling cost us $71 instead of $125 for a $54 savings.

I imagine you get the point. The plan for us was a "no-brainer".

Depending where you live and what plan you choose, your savings might be even greater. In some states there are plans with free cleanings that further enhance the value of the plan.

Vermont PPO Dental Plan

I could not begin to count how many calls we get for an individual Vermont PPO dental plan. The patient was told by their dentist that it is all that they would accept. What the dentist did not tell them was that companies like MetLife, CIGNA, etc., do not sell individual dental plans. I believe that most dental offices know this before they send the patient on a wild goose chase. The dental office does not want to sound like the bad guy and tell you that if you don't pay cash you need to go elsewhere.

Vermont PPO Dental Plan Solutions

We have some solutions to the Vermont PPO dental plan problem.

1. First, let me say that we are working with a carrier to bring out a PPO plan with a national dental network that will be available to individuals. I suggest you go to our PPO dental plan page from time to time to keep track of its development and release date.

2. Many of our discount plans use national networks from the big name group carriers. These networks often duplicate the dentists found in Vermont PPO dental plans. So, it is worthwhile to see which dentists are there.

3. Unless you need a lot of dental work, the additional costs, waiting periods and deductibles will make the discount plans a better buy than the Vermont PPO dental plans. Do the math first and then decide.

4. If you dentist is nice, and everyone is quick to tell me how wonderful their dentist is, they can give you a PPO rate. That's right. If your dentist chooses to do so they can give you the same PPO rate reduction they give to the lucky few patients with group dental plans. Don't hold your breath.
